Finally, it includes multiple colors and this makes it ideal for you to add another level of spice to your home studio. Positioning should also not be an issue as the 2-axis swivel gives you 360-degree rotation.

Its own weight is roughly about 4 pounds.

This boom arm has a very durable fill and supports most microphones weighted between 1.5 to 2.4 pounds when combined with a shock mount.

Desk Mounts

PSA 1 provides two desk mount options. So you can easily mount your boom arm to recording space. You can use the included desk clamp or included desk insert style attachment for a more permanent solution.

The screw adapter is perfectly designed for the Blue Yeti microphone, but it is also perfectly designed for those with different mics. This adds a ton of versatility for the user.

Additionally, it also includes multiple different mounting holes for all your special Blue Yeti attachments and accessories, offering you the full package.

Since this is one of the longer arms that is made, it can also be clamped to virtually any desk, which makes it ideal for podcasts and users uploading videos online.

What is Included?

If you are wondering if this boom arm will work with your microphone it does come with standard 3/8 inch. thread adapter which is the universal standard for most mics. But it does also include a 3/8 inch to 5/8 inch thread adapter for larger microphones.

Rode does include velcro cable so you can wrap your microphones cable neatly to the boom arm in order to reduce cable clutter on your desk space.

How to Setup?

As mentioned earlier the PSA 1 comes with two desk mounting options to choose.

  1. Desk clamp which you can use to mount your boom arm on desks up to 55 millimeters thick.
  2. Desk insert style attachment that requires a little more work to install, but it’s great for a more permanent option and it can be inserted into desks up to 70 mm. thickness.

It is important to mention that the second option required drilling a hole into your desk, so you can place the insert inside it.

If you want to start recording right away – the first option is your choice.

After you’ve installed a boom arm then you just have to screw in your microphone into thread adapter on the end of the boom arm.

2. Neewer NW-35 Mic Stands for Blue Yeti – Best Boom Scissor Arm Review

Neewer NW-35The Neewer NW-35 features a stylish scissor design and it comes as part of a mounting kit that makes life so much easier for you when mounting.

Three table mount clamps have been included and these will all be great when it comes to different surfaces that you could mount it.

Materials

Made from iron, the stand might be somewhat heavy, but this does add to the overall durability that will be on display.

At 19.3-inches, the arm is actually quite long and this makes it possible for you to reach longer areas if need be.

If you need to have an XLR cable included, Neewer also makes a version for people who might need it.

While it works great for the Blue Yeti Mic, it might not hold up well when it comes to the overall versatility. The weight limit is quite low and some of the more expensive microphones might not really hold up on this mic.

3. InnoGear MU01 Mic Stands for Blue Yeti – Budget Option Review

InnoGear MU01Price always seems to be an issue when you are just starting your own recording studio.

The InnoGear MU01 is one of the cheapest on the market today and it makes it possible for beginners to get a foot in the door.

Materials

Made from zinc alloy, it is lightweight but might lack some overall durability in the long run.

The mounting holes have been specifically designed to accommodate the Blue Yeti Microphone and it easily mounts to your desktop.

While it might not offer excellent durability, the stand is really sturdy and this means it can offer you some stability. However, you should keep the weight of all the attachments in mind before you mount them.

Weight capabilities

As you might have already picked up, it lacks some durability and does not have the strength to carry massive weights. However, it will still get the job done and with a lightweight pop filter added, you can record your podcasts and upload your videos.

4. On-Stage MS7701B Blue Yeti Tripod Boom Stand  – Review

On-Stage MS7701BLast but certainly not least, we have chosen a stand specifically for those who love to perform on stage.

If you already have a good Blue Yeti microphone and you want to use it for your performances, the On-Stage MS7701B is designed for this specific purpose, aiding performers.

Design

Tripod design is great when it comes to stability, but it might not work well if there is a lot of traffic on the stage. We love the fact that it is also available in a stylish chrome color, which means that it can assist those looking to amp up their style on stage.

The molded plastic design offers decent durability and keeps the weight down.

While the company promotes the one-handed feature, our tests have shown that it is actually quite useless. However, when you use this feature it is not actually that effective.

As we have already mentioned, it is not really designed for recording purposes and won’t accommodate all of your mounting attachments.

On-Stage MS7701B Review, Pros and Cons. Check our Best Tripod Boom Microphone Stand For Blue Yeti 2018

Price

Since it is used on stage and made from molded plastic, you might think that it will be really expensive. However, we have seen that this mic stand is actually affordable and many bands prefer buying a couple of them for different performances.

We would highly recommend this stand for artists and also for bars and pubs looking to host karaoke shows.

Main Features

  • Steel-reinforced plastic leg housing which offers less weight and exceptional strength
  • Folding legs with plastic endcaps for durability and reduced floor vibrations
  • Steel midpoint locking clutch adjusts height from 32″ to 61.5″
  • 30″ removable boom arm allows for easy positioning
PROS:
  • Decent durability
  • Easy to use and set up
  • Really affordable
  • Good stability

CONS:
  • Not ideal for all the mounting attachments

Who Should Buy It?

This questing actually answers itself and the simple answer might be owners of the Blue Yeti Microphone. However, it is much deeper and the Blue Yeti Mic Stand can have many more purposes and uses.

If you don’t know if you should make the investment into one of these stands, here is a list of the main people we recommend these stands for:

  1. Recording artists
  2. Podcast hosts looking to have more comfort
  3. Home studios breaking into the music industry
  4. Youtubers looking to have some more freedom instead of having a mic attached to them
  5. Any mic owner as most of these mics are quite versatile

Chances of you simply doing research on the Blue Yeti Mic stand without wanting to buy one is slim and this means that you fall under one of these categories.

However, if you don’t, the Blue Yeti Mic stand might make an excellent decoration in your home and often times it can even be used at your local karaoke parties.

How We Tested

Many people might not even consider the opinions of beginners or smaller artists. However, we feel that everyone could have an impact on the effects of something.

With the help of some local talent, we decided to test the mic stands that we could get our hands on or some of them they might have hidden away somewhere.

We focused on the comfort aspect and the ease of use. It was really important for us to find out how easy it is to use. After setting them up, we looked for adjustability and if they offer any discomfort.

How to choose mic stand for Blue Yeti

While some did offer a few problems, we simply discarded them and focused on the best that will work. The process was rather frustrating and we tested durability as well.

After leaving the studios with no voice left at all and a couple of notes on the way these stands worked with the Blue Yeti, we had a much better perception and understanding of which ones are the best.

Key Features To Consider

Everything in life is designed with different features and each brand will try to outsmart the next brand when it comes to features.

However, when you buy any microphone stand, there are a couple of universal or mandatory features that you should look for. With our expert help, we found some of these features and we decided to share them with you when selecting the best mic stand.

Mic Compatibility

One of the most important aspects is the mic compatibility. There is absolutely no use in buying a microphone stand if it is not compatible with your mic.

When searching, we focused on testing them with the Blue Yeti to ensure they do fit. However, we put in some additional tests, as we love versatility. This led us to test it on many other microphones as well.

Fortunately, most brands are now trying to focus on improving their versatility in general.

With people taking on this universal mindset, finding something that is compatible with a world-renowned microphone like the Blue Yeti is actually really simple. It gave us an excellent starting point for our journey.

Pop Filter: What does it do?

If you are a typical user of mics in a recording studio, that is the thing you could not live without.

The main purpose of its usage is eliminating the sounds which are like popping sounds (plosive sounds heard on letters ‘b’ and ‘p’).

They may occur naturally in speech and  because of the air that moves fast or the mechanical impact when you produce singing or speeches. When you are too close to the mic, popping sounds are heightened.

Pop filter is a barrier between these sounds and the mic. It will help you to cut out the problem parts while editing, improve sounding demos and audios. It is like a filter that reduces popping sounds to get perfect final product.

DIY Pop Filters

Do you have the problem of poor quality noise with popping sounds? But still have no the pop filter? Fortunately, it is easy to make with the thing you already have at home!

There are some ideas on what and how to make your own pop filter:

  • Coffee can lid filter
  • Sewing hoop filter
  • Wire filter

All these things need the fabrics close to nylon (for instance, pantyhose) and some hard thing to be bent.

PROS:
  • Very cheap
  • Works great
  • Perfect if you are a beginner

CONS:
  • Nylon can be damaged easily
  • High frequencies are usually removed

Pop Filter Compatibility

The Pop Filter is something that beginner tends to neglect and they are frustrated when there is a lot of distortion when they are playing back the recordings.

Since there are many different pop filters on the market today and they all range in price, it is important to make sure that your mic stand does work in conjunction with a good pop filter.

Fortunately, most brands are also making the mic stand universal, enabling most of them to be compatible with the top-rated pop filters on the market today.

We tested a couple of pop filters as well and matched them with the mic stands to ensure that you can have a complete package that takes your experience to the next level.

Pop Filter and Microphone Shield: What is the difference?

Even when pop filter and microphone shield look like the same thing, they are different.

Both of them are the tools for reducing excessive pressures on a mic’s element. The thing is that the pressures can be made because of breath or vocal plosives and wind current.

Surely, you can use pop filter and mic shield interchangeably to reach the same aim.

As we mentioned before, a pop filter is a layer (of nylon usually) that you place in front of the microphone. It helps reducing noise and interfering the saliva during the recording (this can also damage your microphone because of the salt in saliva that causes corrosion).

Microphone shields are often called windscreens so they work for shotgun mics  and look like a foam cap over a microphone. From the name it is easy to understand that it blocks the wind from interrupting the recording.

What’s better to use with Blue Yeti: Pop Filter or Microphone shield?

You should keep in mind that solution of this problem depends on the way you will use your Blue Yeti mic and for what purposes.

If you record something outdoor (so the wind is around) or somewhere in a clear path, a microphone shield is the best option not only for Blue Yeti mics.

For the situations taken place indoors, where you work with vocals, radio or audios, and no natural disasters may interrupt you, pop filter is perfect here!

How to use Pop Filter with Blue Yeti microphone stand?

Thanks to pop filters’ price, almost everyone may afford it. It is an essential thing to work with. However, it is more than recommended.

It usually comes with universal screw mounts, so you can easily clamp onto your Blue Yeti microphone stand.

Pop filters aren’t made for the little table mounts the Blue Yeti comes with!

In theory, you can mount a pop filter on the Blue Yeti stand, it may not be the best solution.

You can use most pop filters with Blue Yeti microphone – that is very convenient. But keep in your mind that this microphone is quite big, so you should look for a bigger-sized pop-filter that will cover all the mic or more of this.

Adjustability

Nothing beats versatility and adjustability. We find it really important to have some sort of versatility and adjustability to work with.

If you can move stand with ease, you will have more use for it. It also enables you to adjust the mic when you have a frustrating breeze that keeps on making a pass inside your recording studio.

Shock Mount Compatibility

Once again, we have another compatibility feature that you should keep in mind. If you want to add a shock mount to your Blue Yeti, you also need to make sure the microphone stand accommodates this and makes it possible for you to do so.

To be honest, the shock mount is not something we placed much emphasis on, but we still believe it is really important to keep in the back of your mind before buying.

Weight

Some mic’s can be quite expensive and it is really important to make sure that your mic stand can handle the weight of the microphone. Fortunately, many of them will tell you what the maximum weight limit is.

It is worth keeping in mind that the Blue Yeti Microphone itself weighs around 1.2-pounds. Keep this in mind when you are purchasing a new one.

Price Range

The price range is important to some people, but others might not feel that it is something they need to worry about.

However, since many buyers are using small recording studios and waiting for their lucky break in the music industry, we believe the price range is also important.

For this reason, we have focused on selecting a mic stand that will generally fit into the budgets of most beginners.

What Blue Yeti settings to use

It is important to know that there are 4 modes for using Blue Yeti microphone. Modes are Stereo, Cardioid, Omnidirectional and Bidirectional ones.

Let’s have a closer look at each mode.

Stereo mode is perfect for recording choir or guitar. Ii f the sound comes from all 4 sides.

Cardioid mode is usually used for recording vocal performances, podcasts and instruments.   This mode records sounds fine when you are right in front of the microphone.

Omnidirectional mode works best with the sound coming all around the microphone.  Live recordings, bands’ performances and conference calls are the situations to use this mode.

Bidirectional mode. It is known from the name that this mode records sound from the both sides of the microphone. Perfect for making recordings a face-to-face interview.

We may not give you direct recommendations on what mode to use. But here are some tips:

  • don’t speak too close to the Blue Yeti microphone, but still make sure you speak into the microphone from the side;
  • eliminate any background noise.

To sum up, any mode you choose it will not spoil the sound you get at all. So, this microphone  is worth its money and works awesomely.

Top Benefits Of Using A Microphone Stand

It is not even a debate as people won’t buy something that will not offer them a benefit in some way or another. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to see some of these benefits during the testing phase and see how they could make life a little easier as well.

Here are some of the top benefits you can expect to have when buying a mic stand:

  • More stability: If the mic is constantly being moved around, your recordings might not be as smooth and clear. However, the stand will make a difference and allow you to reduce any distortion caused by moving it around. It is also worth noting that the pop filter will greatly assist
  • More focus: if you need to constantly keep the mic in your hands, you will tire and lose focus. This will greatly reduce the quality of your recordings and you can ask any recording artist how important comfort is to reaching their full potential. The microphone stand will definitely enable you to keep more focus
  • Simplicity: Having it is really important and it offers more simplicity. Mothese standsstands will allow you to add your very own pop filter. Instead of having all of these pieces of equipment lying around, they will all be mounted and make the recording process so much simpler
  • Longer arms: The original Blue Yeti stand is a little too short and hinders some artists from comfortably using them. If you make an upgrade and improve your mic stand, you will have much more comfort and improve your recording potential

While these benefits are certainly great, the Blue Yeti also comes with a mic stand already included. However, these benefits are things that the original stand might not offer you or things that could keep you back.

To have the ultimate Blue Yeti experience, you should definitely consider an upgrade.

How to choose Microphone Stand for Blue Yeti

  1. I have used the Rode PSA 1 boom arm with a couple of different condenser microphones and it works great. Some key features that make this product great for me:

    – It is silent
    – It steady. It does not sway or droop even if you attach a pop filter to it
    – It does not vibrate
    – You can mount it on a desk in more than one way
    – Has an excellent range of motion

Overall, this boom works well and it worth every dime.

  2. I love this Neewer mic stand. It holds my microphone without a problem. I can adjust in any direction and that makes it super easy for me when I’m recording. I think it can hold heavier mics.

I noticed, however, that the clamp moves, so I avoid moving it too much. But its a great product nevertheless.

  3. So at first, I had given the InnoGear stand 3 stars because while it is affordable and solid, it was not holding my Blue Yeti properly. Until the company pointed out that I needed to reorientate the connection sections to boost the strength of the stand. I did it and it did not take much time to do it. And voila! It worked.

So now I have given it 5 stars and here are some key features that I give the mic stand credit for:

    Affordability
    Good warranty
    Excellent packaging
    Works well

There are other better mic stands, which are stronger and sturdier than this one. But if you are a newbie who is on a budget and want a good stand, I would get this product.

  4. I was unsure of what I would get at the price I got the On-Stage stand. But to my surprise, it exceeded my expectations. It is heavy and sturdy enough to hold my condenser mic, which is quite heavy. The mechanism of the stand seems solid and it is durable.

  5. Here are my thoughts about the Neewer stand.

    Pros
    Its extremely strong and sturdy
    The springs are tight
    It is steady
    It is affordable

    Cons
The mounting clamp is not very steady
Overall Review: I would recommend this boom because it works well and it is super affordable. Although the clamp wiggles, you can tighten it to make it steady.

  6. The PSA-1 boom arm is robust and stable. I have one that holds my Blue Yeti mic with a shock mount. Connecting the PSA-1 to the shock mount was easy and simple. The PSA-1 comes with velcro straps to keep the cords neat and tidy. So you don’t have to deal with dangling cords. You may find less expensive arms, but this stand is worth the money.

  7. I want to buy a Blue Yeti and I’m wondering which is the best mic stand to buy. The Blue Yeti is a heavy mic, so I need a good and sturdy stand for it. I’m considering a mic arm stand, but after doing some research I have learned that floor-standing boom stands are hard to position on a desk, even though they do a good job at isolating noises that come from the desk like when you are placing something on it. Is this true? I would love to hear your suggestion or recommendations. I have a limited budget by the way.

  8. I use the On-Stage stand with my Rode NTG-2 mic. It is a great stand, but you need to position it correctly. Once you do, it will work well. I love that it extends 6 feet and the boom 10 feet. So I can adjust the height of my mic.

  9. I have a question concerning mic stands: is the Rode PSA 1 mic stand worth the price or should I get the Neewer stand which is cheaper?

    • I have some experience with both stands. I would advise you to get the Rode PSA 1. It holds a mic steadily.
The Neewer stand does not hold a mic steadily, and the part that screws into your microphone holder is crap.

  10. I like my On-Stage tripod mic stand. I have tried many different mic stands before but they always also seem to have one problem or another. The On-stage stands are outstanding and they work well. I use mine regularly and it does not show any signs of wearing.

So, I advise you to avoid cheap stands. It worth spending the extra bucks to get a good stand. It will be worth it in the long run.
