Cuisinart CBK-100The Cuisinart CBK-100 takes the mess and difficulty out of making fresh-baked bread.

This machine has a max dough capacity of 2 pounds.

Not only that, but it boasts 12 preprogrammed menu options alongside three specialty crust selections.

The CBK-100 also has a built-in timer with a generous 12-hour delay window.

With so many choices, this machine makes it easy to create one-of-a-kind recipes that suit your family’s tastes.

A High-end Look

We also found the CBK-100 to be aesthetically attractive. No one wants to clutter their countertops with bulky mismatched appliances. Fortunately, the CBK-100 has a sleek brushed stainless steel exterior.

Except for being attractive this bread maker needs a lot of space. Its height is 15 inches and its length is 18 inches. Even if it is large, it makes the horizontal loaves of bread.  A user-friendly LCD display  helps checking the progress of the bread. The outer shell is made of thick and stainless steel. To carry this bread maker somewhere there are convenient handles on the side.

It also features a low-profile rectangular design that helps it blend in amongst other countertop appliances. Not to mention, it has a topside viewing window. Not to mention, it comes with a small collection of matching cooking tools and recipes.

Meanwhile, the basket has a reliable non-stick coating. As such, you won’t find yourself struggling to remove a freshly baked loaf. What’s more, the CBK-100 has an integrated chime system that lets you know the progress of your bread or dough.

Nevertheless, its affordability and stellar output make it one of the most amazing Cuisinart bread makers on the market.

2. Cuisinart CBK-110 Cuisinart Bread Machine – Best Bread Maker for Large Families Review

Cuisinart CBK-110The Cuisinart CBK-110 seems to be the souped-up version of the Cuisinart CBK-100.

If you’re willing to spend a few extra bucks, this bread machine seems to have worked out some of the kinks of its beloved predecessor.

Like the 100, the 110 has 12 preprogrammed menu options, all of which are clearly listed on the top of the machine. These programs include Packaged Mix, Gluten Free, Artisan Dough and more.

The Cuisinart CBK-110 also boasts 3 specialty crust preferences, including light, medium, and dark.

This bread maker looks like a compact machine with a small footprint and vertical bread pan.  What’s more, it has a standard 2-pound dough capacity. Although users also have their choice of two smaller loaves.

Beyond that, the 100 features Cuisinart’s signature 13-hour delayed start option.

This comes in handy when you want to prep ahead and come home to fresh-baked bread. After all, nothing beats the aroma of warm baked goods.

A Luxurious Look

The Cuisinart CBK-110’s design is on-point too. It has a brushed stainless steel exterior and a convenient topside viewing window. Meanwhile, an interior light makes intermittent progress checks all the easier.

The convenient topside viewing window

The Cuisinart CBK-110 also boasts a vertical loaf pan for counter-friendly cooking. It’s also important to note that the mixing paddle is not collapsible. This means you need to manually remove it before the baking cycle or deal with small imperfection in the bottom of your loaves.

Flexible Cooking Options

With the CBK-100, all of the heating elements are in the bottom. Still, our test loaves had an evenly baked crust and were cooked all the way through.

The vertical loaf pan for counter-friendly cooking

For the most part, we used recipes that utilized the bread machine from start to finish. However, some of the bread machine’s doughs are better off being cooked in a real oven.

This model also has a 15-minute power failure backup memory. It resumes bread making cycle when power may be restored quickly.

LCD alerts and audible signal will help you when you have to add extra ingredients or remove kneading paddle.

While we experienced a few incomplete dough cycles when using the 110, we found that the extra time was well worth it.

3. Cuisinart CBK-200 Cuisinart Bread Machine – Best Bread Maker for Specialty Doughs Review

Cuisinart CBK-200If you’re willing to spend a bit over $100 for a bread machine, we suggest you take a look at the Cuisinart CBK-200.

This convection oven has a built-in fan with adjustable speeds for artisanal-quality bread and baked goods. With this option you have an ability for doing something more even baking.

Not to mention, the machine has a large number of preprogrammed menu options which include specialty settings for gluten-free and low-carb doughs.

You also have the ability to adjust the crust color and loaf size.

As for crust color there are three options: light, medium and dark. By default it is set to a medium crust color. Interesting to know that if the bread contains more sugar and fat, it tends to brown more easily. But be careful it may get too dark.

Cuisinart CBK-200 bakes 3 different sizes: 1 pound, 1.5 and 2 pound loaves. By default the Cuisinart CBK-200 is set to a 2-pound loaf size. Some menu options do not allow  you to choose a 1-pound loaf size. But  to select the loaf size that matches your bread machine just press the loaf button.

As such, you have nearly 100 different options to choose from when making a recipe of their choosing.

Not to mention, the bread machine comes with a recipe book containing nearly 100 bread recipes that are tailored to the CBK-200.

Convenience is Key

The Cuisinart CBK-200 also has a number of convenience features. For one, users can delay starting times for up to 12 hours. This enables you to wake up or come home to the aroma of fresh-baked bread.

There is also a power-failure backup setting that accounts for potential electric issues. The Cuisinart CBK-200 even boasts alert chimes that let you know the progress of your bread or when to add mix-ins.

It also features an attractive stainless steel and black trim exterior that coordinates well with most kitchens.

With this bread maker you get not only well-designed machine but also a great thing that can easily be slid under the shelf — it is so compact!

Stainless steel and black trim exterior

The Cuisinart CBK-200 has its heating elements in the bottom, but a convection fan helps circulate air up and over loaves. This enables the machine to produce bread with an evenly crispy crust each and every time.

One downside of the bread maker is that the paddle is not collapsible. While you can remove it before baking, this process can be quite messy.

Cuisinart CBK-200 has a topside viewing window

You can bake the loaf without removing the paddle, but it will leave a small hole in the bottom of the loaf.

Easing Health Concerns

We love that the Cuisinart CBK-200 has gluten-free and low-carb settings. To make these health-conscious doughs even more accessible, these options are written in bold text on the interface.

The options are written in bold text on the interface

Keep in mind that you must use one button to manually select a preprogramming option from the menu. This can be somewhat frustrating.

If you mistakenly skip over your desired selection, you need to go through the entire list to reach it again. However, we consider this to be a minor inconvenience.

A Crowd Pleaser

The Cuisinart CBK-200 is designed to please the pickiest of consumers. After all, it is capable of producing a wide variety of specialty baked goods that are tailored to individual tastes.

Not to mention, its 3-year warranty and power failure backup feature make it one of the most worry-free appliances we’ve had the opportunity to try.

To make your cleaning more convenient this bread maker has a removable lid.

If you had some problems with jiggling or turning of your previous bread maker, Cuisinart CBK-200 has an adjustable loaf pan. It fits and locks wherever you want easily.

This is fantastic for those who are real cooks, especially if you tend to work with gentle dough. It wobbles and kneads very well thanks to the mixer paddle. It is powerful enough.

All 3 Cuisinart bread makers do not differ in content from each other.

Here you can find the list of the things each Cuisinart has:

  • Reference guide
  • Bread maker
  • Bread pan
  • Kneading paddle
  • Pan hook

Cleaning tips

You know that the most important thing that can prolong the life of your  bread maker is cleaning and care.

Baking chamber, lid, baking pan, measuring spoon and cup and kneading paddle are the parts of the machine which should be cleaned very thoroughly.

To make this never use rough and abrasive fabrics. In some cases you may wipe the surface with a clean damp cloth. Dry it before storing.

Do not immerse the unit in any liquid or water! Do not forget to turn the bread maker off: to do that, remove the plug the electrical outlet. Allow the unit to cool before cleaning.

Measurement

The main rule of making bread or any other recipe is using exact measurements. You should use different measuring cups for different ingredients.

For dry ingredients never scoop the ingredients with the cup (scooping usually adds up to one tablespoon of extra ingredients such as flour) — for this it is better to use a spoon then level off with something flat.

For wet ingredients liquid measuring cups are needed. They must be marked clearly on the side. It is better to have room temperature liquid. Make sure that the amount of liquid is exact. You can use your eyes to do that: place a measuring cup onto the flat surface and check the level of liquid.

Sometimes measurement chart may be needed that you can find in Cuisinart instruction booklet either using the official site of Cuisinart or any other cuisine site.

Programmed Settings

Preprogramed settings give home cooks full control over the types of bread they can make.

Most modern bread machines have a long list of functions, including the ability to make sweet doughs, cakes, gluten-free specialties, and raw doughs. Many machines are even capable of producing jams, yogurts, and other non-bread foods.

Meanwhile, many machines go so far as to allow users to choose the size of their loaf too. This helps in reducing kitchen waste and cutting down production costs.

What’s more, most machines allow you to determine the color of the crust. As such, you can usually decide if your bread is light and fluffy or dark and crispy. By tweaking the details of each bread, users can generate a truly exceptional home-cooked creation.

Delayed Timer

Delayed-start timers give users full control of when their bread bakes. With such a feature, users can prep their dough ingredients and then select an automated start time. This feature is ideal for individuals with busy schedules.

Users time their bread production so that it aligns with their mealtime. After all, there are few greater pleasures in this world than freshly baked bread.

Noise and Overall Performance

Between the mixing, kneading, and baking, most bread machines produce some noise. In fact, we didn’t come across a single bread machine that was known for its silence.

Still, there are a few features that help reduce the noisiness of these raucous home appliances. We recommend looking for heavy models with friction-reducing supports.

How to choose cuisinart bread machines // Cuisinart bread machines buyer’s guide

As far as performance, a reliable bread machine should mix all ingredients thoroughly regardless of the recipe. What’s more, it should be capable of kneading and rising doughs in an expert manner.

Finally, the heating element should evenly distribute heat to all sides of the loaf and bake doughs thoroughly through the center.

Collapsible Paddle

All bread machines feature mixing paddles. This is an essential element of the bread machine. However, it creates a bit of an aesthetic flaw in the bottom of loaves.

That’s because the mixing paddle bakes into the bread, leaving a noticeable hole behind. To resolve this issue, some machines have integrated removable paddles.

While this improves the look of bread, it is a messy step that most people choose to avoid. Other machines boast collapsible paddles, which move from the vertical to horizontal position.

Collapsible paddles still leave a small indent in the base of machine-baked loaves. However, it is barely noticeable when compared to the hole left from fixed paddles.

Budget

Standard bread machines run consumers anywhere from $50 to $150. Meanwhile, higher-end models tend to cost $300 or more.

A high price usually accounts for specialty features, like post-start ingredient dispensers, collapsible kneading paddles, convection fans, and dual heating elements.

Beyond that, it is usually easier to find replacement parts for more expensive models. Regardless of that, there are plenty of dependable budget-rate bread machines on the market. Just be sure to consider your intended outputs before settling on a specific model.

Instruction Manual

While consumers tend to ignore the details within appliance instruction manuals, bread machine manuals hold particular value. Oftentimes, these booklets contain tailor-made recipe collections.

If you plan on using your bread machine to make specific doughs, ensure that the manual it comes with suits your desires. This will save you from trying to recalculate the ingredient measurements from traditional bread recipes.

User Interface

A bread machine is of little use to you if you can’t figure out how to use it. As such, it is important to find a machine with an easy-to-navigate user interface. It is important to note that many bread machines feature numbered menus that are printed on the lid.

One or more buttons are used to select from the various cook cycles. Furthermore, machines typically chime or beep as they achieve each stage of the cooking process.

Cuisinart vs. Other Brands

Oster

Conclusively, when determining an ideal bread maker, both Oster and Cuisinart present compelling options due to their respective reliability and quality. Oster, with its cost-effective and user-friendly appliances, offers a superb choice for budget-conscious consumers seeking varied baking options. Conversely, Cuisinart, known for its high-end appliances, provides a more durable and customizable bread maker equipped with advanced features like convection baking. These offerings cater to diverse needs and budgets, necessitating individual consideration of your unique requirements, financial allowance, and preferences to ensure the best choice.

Hamilton Beach

Hamilton Beach bread makers are typically seen as reliable, affordable, and user-friendly, excellent for those embarking on their home baking journey. They offer a variety of pre-programmed settings and deliver consistently good results, making them a great choice for beginners or those looking for value for money.

On the other hand, Cuisinart bread makers are often seen as high-end appliances with superior functionality and durability. Their bread makers come with more advanced features, such as a convection option for even baking and a wide array of customizable settings, making them ideal for more experienced bakers or those willing to invest a bit more for premium features.

In essence, Hamilton Beach offers a simple, affordable solution for fresh home-baked bread, while Cuisinart presents a more premium, sophisticated approach to the home baking experience. The choice ultimately depends on your individual requirements, budget, and personal baking ambitions.

Other Brands

Cuisinart is one of the most popular brands of bread machines, but it is certainly not the only one. Breville, Oster, Sunbeam, and Zojirushi are just a few of its competitors.

Now, if you are wondering how Cuisinart compares to other popular bread machines, we’ve got the rundown below.

Cuisinart offers a variety of machines on the budget-end of the spectrum. They are extremely user-friendly capable of churning out consistently tasty loaves.

How to choose cuisinart bread machines // Cuisinart bread machines buyer’s guide

We found that most Cuisinart machines offered at least a dozen bread cycles as well as an optional delayed start. What’s more, they range in price between $75 and $150.

Meanwhile, high-end brands like Breville and Zojirushi cost well over $200. Brands like these tend to have lots of extra amenities in addition to specialty programming options.

For example, the Breville Custom Loaf Bread Maker has a built-fruit and nut dispenser for adding heat-sensitive ingredients at the last minute. The higher-end models also tend to be extremely sturdy, with stainless steel housing and a weighted base.

Nevertheless, the Cuisinart’s bread machines are durable, versatile, and user-friendly. They even boast specialty programming options for cooking items such as gluten-free bread and jam.

Not to mention, there are a variety of bread machine options within the Cuisinart bread machine line. Therefore, if you’re looking for an affordable bread machine with a tried and true reputation, Cuisinart is the way to go.

Convection Bread Maker vs Regular

Convection Bread Maker:

Convection bread makers incorporate a fan into the baking process. This fan circulates the hot air within the bread maker evenly, leading to more consistent baking.

  1. Uniform Baking: The major advantage of a convection bread maker is that it typically bakes more evenly. It ensures that the heat is distributed uniformly, so the loaf browns consistently all over, and there’s less chance of undercooked sections.
  2. Crispier Crust: Due to the circulation of hot air, convection bread makers often produce bread with a crispier crust compared to regular bread makers.
  3. Faster Baking Time: Convection baking is generally faster than regular baking because the moving air speeds up the heat transfer that occurs during baking.
  4. Adjustment Needs: If a recipe isn’t specifically designed for convection baking, you might need to adjust either the temperature or the baking time to get the best results.

Regular Bread Maker:

Regular bread makers do not have a built-in fan to circulate the air. They still produce satisfactory results, but there can be slight differences in the baking process and end result.

  1. Ease of Use: Regular bread makers usually have simpler settings, which can be beneficial for beginners or for those who prefer a more straightforward baking process.
  2. Soft Crust: If you prefer your bread with a softer crust, a regular bread maker might suit your needs better as they tend not to brown the crust as much as convection bread makers.
  3. No Need for Adjustments: Since most bread recipes are designed with regular baking in mind, you won’t have to worry about adjusting the temperature or baking time when using a regular bread maker.
  4. Possible Uneven Baking: Regular bread makers may sometimes yield slightly unevenly baked bread, especially for larger loaves, due to the lack of air circulation.

In conclusion, both convection and regular bread makers have their merits. The choice between the two typically depends on your personal preferences and needs in baking bread. If you value a uniform, crispier crust, and quicker baking times, a convection bread maker might be your best bet. If you prefer a softer crust and a simpler, more straightforward baking process, a regular bread maker could be the ideal choice for you.

  4. Quality: While Oster provides good quality considering the price point, it might not be as durable or versatile as some higher-end models, such as Cuisinart.

  1. I got a CBK100 bread maker as a Bday gift.( so I don’t have the receipt ). I am stack in house and in big need of bread. My machine works, rising the dough, but at baking faze it collapses half way. I tried different east, floor, no better results. Please help me to get rid of this machine. Thank you (864)907 1487

  2. I love my Cuisinart CBK-110 but I use it almost exclusively for mixing dough, not for baking the bread. After running my recipe through the dough cycle (Program 8), which is 1 hour, 35 minutes, I take the dough out, shape it into loaves of whatever shape and size I like (we are just 2, so I prefer small loaves and demi-baguettes), let them rise until doubled in bulk (it usually takes about an hour or so), then bake them at 350-375 until they are nicely browned and have an internal temperature of 195 degrees (F), about 10 degrees higher for sour dough. Besides offering more flexibility in size and shape of the loaves, t is much faster than using the full bake cycle.

  3. What do you mean by “Incomplete dough cycle”? (CBK-110)

Thanks for the reviews, it was very helpful in figuring out the differences. I’ll definitely be buying from your Amazon link once I fully decide.

I did chuckle at calling the CBK-200 compact though; If you stand it on its side it goes from your crotch to your neck. I’d love to see what you would consider unruly. lol
